How to Store Perfumes for Longevity: Keep Scents Fresh Longer
Want your favorite fragrance to last for years?
Proper perfume storage can make a big difference in how long the scent stays fresh and powerful.
1. Keep It Cool (But Not Cold)
Avoid heat and direct sunlight. Ideal temperature: 15–20°C (59–68°F). Never store perfume near radiators or in a hot car.
2. Avoid Humidity
Bathrooms may seem convenient, but moisture and steam degrade fragrance formulas over time.
3. Store in the Dark
Light breaks down perfume molecules.
Tip: Use original boxes or place bottles in drawers or cabinets.
4. Keep the Bottle Closed
Oxygen causes scent evaporation and oxidation. Make sure the cap is tightly closed when not in use.
5. Don’t Shake It!
Perfume isn’t a cocktail. Shaking introduces air and destabilizes the formula.
Pro Tip:
If your perfume has changed color slightly but still smells the same — it’s likely still good. Color change isn’t always spoilage.
